Meet Bruce

Bruce Wilhelm, owner and president of ThinkWrite, has played many significant roles in his thirty years in education – teacher, coach, advisor, dean, camp counselor, mentor, admissions representative, Middle School Head, and Assistant Head of School. He has a strong belief that all children have their unique strengths, and good educators identify these strengths and celebrate them. Good schools, he holds, are filled with teachers and administrators who understand the energy, perspective, and commitment it takes to serve all in the community. Bruce, the son of educators himself, is the father of three boys.

Over 30 Years of Experience in Independent Schools

  • Teacher (30 years)- English, History, Public Speaking, Health

    • Buckley Country Day School (NY), Gilman School (MD), Hale School (Perth, Australia), St. Paul’s School (MD), University School (OH) 

  • School Administrator (14 years)

    • Assistant Head of School (K-12)- University School, Cleveland, Ohio- overseeing and supporting approximately 900 students/120 teachers/1600 parents

    • Head of Shaker Campus (K-8)- University School- overseeing and supporting 500 students/85 teachers/950 parents 

    • Middle School Head (5-8)- St. Paul’s School, Baltimore, Maryland-overseeing and supporting the entire program of approximately 225 students/45 teachers

  • College athlete- NCAA soccer finalist (1985, 87) at Washington University in St. Louis

  • Camp Deerwood- counselor for 15 summers- Head Counselor, in charge of daily schedule (11 years), Head of Tennis, Head of Outdoor Trips

  • World travel- extensive travel around the world. Oceania, Europe, Africa, South America, Asia

  • Washington University Women’s Soccer- Inaugural Head Coach (Fall 1988)

  • Son of a college professor (father) and teacher/writer (mother)

  • Father of three boys

  • Married to childhood sweetheart for thirty years
